Thorne Environmental has carried out the following contracts as Principal Contractor:

  • Bentley Colliery. Several Phases of Reclamation works for Yorkshire Forward
    Total value £190,000.00. Overall 22 week contract period.

  • Brodsworth Colliery Reclamation Phase 1. Demolition of 3-storey colliery buildings for Yorkshire Forward. Value £65,000.00. 14 week contract period.

  • Brodsworth Colliery Reclamation Phase 2. Installing footpaths and general restoration works . Value £140,000.00. 18 week contract period.

  • Brodsworth Colliery Reclamation Phase 3. Demolition of 3-storey colliery buildings for Yorkshire Forward and environmental clean up of the former Ogdens Yard. Value £155,000.00. 12 week contract period.

  • Yorkshire Forward/Wakefield Council – Frickley Colliery.
    Phase 1 - Value in excess of £2.0 million. 35 week contract period.
    Phase 2 – Value approximately £5 million – ongoing.

  • Demolition of the former Etam Factory at Mansfield for Bloor Homes. A three acre, 4-storey reinforced concrete and steel building, with the front being within 3 metres of a very busy section of the A38, completed without a road closure in place. The building also contained a live Sub-Station.

  • Demolition of the former Saracen Dye Works at Leicester for Bloor Homes. A six acre, 3-storey concrete and steel building surrounded by houses, a canal and fronting onto a main road. The site also had a 20 metre high chimney.

  • Demolition of former Vulcan Works at Church Fenton. 20m high steel structures over 3 acres incorporating the demolition of a 25 metre high chimney above a live sub-station.

  • 2001 - Sutton Landfill Site, Mansfield. 10,000 m² Lap and Lay 1mm cap.

  • 2001 - Carlton Forest Landfill site, Blyth. 6,000 m² Lap and lay 1mm cap and 5,000 m² steel slope lining works

  • 2002 - Dorket Head Landfill Site, Nottingham. 22,000 m² welded 1mm VFPE cap and 3,000 m² sidewall liner.

  • 2002 – Immingham Landfill Site. 21,000 m² welded 1mm VFPE cap and 12,000 m² cell.

  • 2002 - Bootham Lane Landfill Site, Doncaster. 22,000 m² welded 1mm VFPE cap and 10,000 m² engineered clay temporary cap.

  • 2002 - Sutton Landfill Site, Mansfield. 15,000 m² landfill cell incorporating GCL, welded 2mm HDPE, geotextile, gravel and 40,000 m³ excavation.

  • 2002 - Immingham Landfill Site. 10,000 m² engineered clay seal to existing waste.

  • 2003 - Sutton Landfill Site. 25,000 m³ overburden excavation.

  • 2003 - Daneshill Landfill Site. 40,000 m² temporary capping and HDPE capping.

  • 2003 - Scabba Wood Landfill Site. Engineered clay sidewall liner.

  • 2003 - Thurcroft Landfill Site. Existing colliery site reclamation and contaminated land containment cell.

  • 2003 – Dorket Head Landfill Site. 15,000 m² landfill cell incorporating GCL, welded 2mm HDPE geotextile, gravel and 60,000 m³ excavation. This contract was a fast track scheme completed in 6 weeks.

  • 2003 - Barnsdale Bar Landfill Site. 30,000 m² welded 1mm VPE capping followed by landfill cell.

  • 2003 - Bootham Lane Landfill Site. 20,000 m² welded 1mm VPE capping.

  • 2003 - Sutton Landfill Site. 20,000 m² landfill cell incorporating GCL, welded 2mm HDPE, geotextile, gravel and 40,000 m³ excavation.

  • 2003 -- Barnstone Landfill Site. 20,000 m² engineered clay cell, 70,000 m² HDPE cap and 80,000 m³ excavation.

  • 2003 - Darrington Landfill Site. 55,000 m² HDPE cap and 70,000 m³ excavation.

  • 2003 - Skelbrooke Landfill Site. 25,000 m² welded 1mm VPE capping.
