Frickley Reclamation

Phase 1 - Thorne Environmental Ltd completed site clearance and enabling works involving the excavation and processing of 46,000m3 of buried foundations, re-grading to provide development plots for housing and industrial use and 75,000m3 of re-profiling of steep slopes to existing colliery spoil heap.

Phase 2 – The main reclamation scheme comprises earthworks, soil placement, cultivation, planting and maintenance to complete the development plateaux and provide a countryside park. Briefly, the scope of works comprises:

  • Earthworks and remediation to provide sports pitches, car parks, ponds and countryside park features
  • Drainage works to provide ditches, bridge crossings, sports pitch drainage and bat mitigation features.
  • Tracks and paths to form leisure footway / cycle-ways including features.
  • Landscaping including importing topsoil, sub-soils, TCCSS and composted green waste.
  • Cultivation of colliery spoil and placement of growing media to tree and shrub areas.
  • Wetlands
  • Fencing, access features and signage
  • Landscaping and maintenance
